Johannesburg the city of dirt & darkness

Johannesburg has been out of lights for an entire week leaving the residents in darkness inconveniencing a lot of people and businesses. The reason for this was said to be cable theft. On Thursday the 06th of September, arrests were made in scrapyards were copper and cables were found. 22 people were arrested relating to the matter and it is said that an amount of approximately R40 million would be needed in order to restore the damage caused. About 20 streets in the Johannesburg CBD are out of electricity.

Adding on to the problems the city is currently facing, people whom were promised employment by Municipality PikItUp are scattering dirt in the city in protesting with the company. These people were under the Jozi@work initiative that was launched on the 30th of September 2014 by the City of Johannesburg and were assisting PikItUp in cleaning the city. Their contract ended and rumours started to go around on their employment by the company PikItUp. They held several meetings and it was said that they are going to be attended to in September 2017.

As we speak the city is dirty and dark and is a health hazard to us who live in it. As for businesses, people are losing out on lots of money because they can’t trade. In all this, the ANC saw an opportunity to use it against the Mayor Herman Mashaba with a no confidence vote said to be against him. The motion will be debated later this month, but the mayor seem not to be worried about it as the EFF has changed its tune saying that it will not attend council meetings in Metros led by the DA Coalition saying that both the ANC and The DA have failed in delivering better services.

EFF leader Julius Malema in an interview after his graduation ceremony went on to say that if the ANC puts a solid offer on the table, he will take it. What does he mean? All of sudden he is now willing to work with the ANC, but why? He furthermore said that they did not sign anything with DA. Now that raised a lot of eyebrows because the EFF wanted nothing to do with the ANC, or are we missing something? I think Malema still has “feelings” for the mighty ANC, but has a problem with one person, Mr JZ.

On the other hand, the mighty Hlaudi Motsoeneng might have to cough out over a million rands over court cases. Mr Hlaudi, what can I say, ow well nothing. You know im busy saying all these things and almost forgot about the Kwa-Zulu Natal ANC body guards whom their video is circulating making death threats. An illegal gun in South Africa, an AK-47 is seen in the video, what is happening with our people? Ok, I think what we all would like to know is: who were the threats directed to? I guess we will wait patiently for more news on this matter and lastly wise and powerful words by Professor Patrick Lumumba, director of Khenya School of Law when he was delivering a lecture in a fifth memorial of Onkgopotse Tiro in the University of Limpopo on Friday 8th of September. I just hope his powerful words did not just fall into deaf ears, I truly hope our leaders were listening and took notes. We need more people like Prof. Lumumba in our countries and the entire world. Here I was thinking I will close it off on a high note with a great story then Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will be swon into Parliament as an ANC MP. It is said that she will be replacing Pule Mabi an MP that resigned recently. I am waiting for the EFF to welcome the fierce President Zuma’s ex-wife. Before I close it off, so our public protector has been receiving threats. If she is protecting the public, does it mean she does not need protection? What happened to her security? Her house vandalised, workplace, she apparently has been receiving emails, smses you name it. What is going on? Please leave our public protector alone.
