We caught up with a new artist in the game and her name is: Aissa Torres

FAVORITE COLOR? Yellow FAVORITE FOOD? Pierogis FAVORITE ARTIST AND WHY?

My favorite artist is a tie between Taylor Dayne and Missy Elliot. Taylor Dayne has such an incredible, soulful and unique voice. I have loved her since I first heard her on the radio. Missy Elliot has broken so many barriers and is so incredibly gifted as an artist. I really look up to them both. WHAT AGE WERE YOU WHEN YOU GOT BIT BY THE BUG THE MUSIC BUG THAT IS?

I would say from the age of three. I loved to sing and pretend that I was performing on stage. I could sing before I could talk. It was mostly Pop music and Classic Rock. When I was six, I fell in love with Hip-Hop. I found a way to blend the sounds together ever since. WHO WERE SOME OF YOUR ROLE MODELS WHILE COMING UP IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?

I would say Taylor Dayne, Slick Rick, Missy Elliot, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, to name a few. WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO GET IN YOUR GENRE OF MUSIC?

I make Hip-Pop music, but I also don’t want to be limited in any genre or in one lane. I am heavily influenced by early Hip-Hop, Rock, and Pop. I love the sounds of the electric guitar and bass and I love the old school hip-hop cadence and flow. I love to dance and put it all together. WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR FIRST SINGLE?

You Wanna Dance (2015) HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME?

You Wanna Dance was my first single in 2015. I named it that because I was imagining telling myself that I wanted to dance and convince myself to go out dancing and have some fun! I imagined that others would feel the same, too! It was a great first single and a great first music video. WHAT IS YOUR FEEDBACK ON THE DIRECTION OF HIP HOP?

Well, I believe that not all of it is really Hip-Hop. I believe that the music that is being called “Hip-Hop” today should really be called a different genre of music. There are certain similarities, but in my opinion, it’s lacking real lyricism, cadence and flow, from what I was used to hearing growing up. I would love to see the pioneers who started it be recognized more and to hear more of their latest releases. I am also looking forward to seeing "Old School Hip-Hop" be more "New School" to show the fans of this new genre what they have been missing. IF YOU COULD DO A COLLABO WITH ANY ARTIST WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

Missy Elliot! I would love to open for her or do a collaboration with her. She is just such a fun and versatile artist and I feel like we could make great music together. SO HOW DOES IT FEEL TO GET YOUR MUSIC OUT TO THE MASSES?

It was a pretty amazing feeling to hear my song on the radio. I will never forget the first time I heard my release “Bounce” last year on the radio here in Orlando, FL. It was such an incredible feeling and it has since gone on to more radio stations across the states and overseas. I can only hope for more successes like these and I appreciate every opportunity that has been granted to me. TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?

I am a Pisces, I love to cook and I wish to have my own restaurant someday. I love to write songs and I would love to be a songwriter for many of the artists out there now. I love dogs and cats and I have two beautiful girls. I am also engaged to my partner in rhyme, TNT Tha Nasty Tone, and we are currently planning our wedding.
