SLASH T; BEHIND YOUR STAGE NAME, WHO IS SLASH T?

The man behind the brand "SlashT" is Legoa Percy Mbonani(a rapper, songwriter, novelist & cartoonist) from Ekurhuleni Tsakane. I'm 26yrs of Age

WHAT MADE YOU TO CHOOSE HIP HOP?

I was always a big fan of music and writing lyrics but after watching Eminem bio pic "8mile" and I related so much that I decided to take on rap as a career and follow Hip Hop as a culture.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR HOOD (TSAKANE) WHEN IT COMES TO HIP HOP, CAN YOU HIGHLIGHT THE HIP HOP MOVEMENT IN TSAKANE?

My hood is pretty much behind with the culture, Hip hop heads and the elements are so scarce that we go to KwaThema or Duduza for a session/gig.

RASHID IS ONE OF THE GUYS THAT HAVE BEEN THERE ON THIS GAME WAY-BACK, WHEN THE HIP HOP GROUPS SUCH AS SKWATTA KAMP OR HIDDEN FORCE WERE WAVING THE HIP HOP INDUSTRY. WORKING WITH RASHID, WHAT DID YOU LEARN TO HIM ABOUT THE SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC INDUSTRY?

Rashid has taught me a lot about the game but what stands out from all his lessons is that the game is 40% Talent & 60% connections and that's all true.

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR THAT CHANNELS YOUR BRAND ON THE LAYERS OF THE HIP HOP INDUSTRY?

I'm a 7xWinner of Metro FM's rap show, 2xWinner of New Melody with Vow FM, was called for Shiz Live, Corner Cypher at da SAHHA2017 & got play listed on USA rap show.

EXCEPT RASHID AND OTHERS THAT YOU’VE WORKED WITH THEM, WHICH RAPPERS INSPIRED YOU IN THE MANNER THAT YOU WISH TO WORK WITH THEM?

I'd really love to work with Anatii, K.O, Shane Eagle, Amanda Black, and Pro &HHP.

NAS, A LEGENDARY INTERNATIONAL HIP HOP ARTIST THAT IS RESPECTED WORLDWIDE, WROTE A SONG CALLED “HIP HOP IS DEAD” CAN YOU HIGHLIGHT YOUR VIEW ON THIS POINT! Hip Hop is a heartbeat of the streets, if it died than we must be rocking in heaven that's why we're so gawdly.

BNREMAG IS THE KIND OF MAGAZINE THAT FUSES THE FAMOUS ARTISTS WITH UNDERRATED ARTISTS. ON THE GROUND LEVEL, THROUGH YOUR EXPERIENCE, THERE ARE UNDERGROUND FUTURE ARTISTS THAT WOULD BRING A MASSIVE CHANGE IN HIP HOP LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY?

Yeah there's a lot of potential underground you just gotta dig deep to have it...But S/O to Oneway, Loux Artiste, Soweto Tshepiso & Ferguson for the bars.

GENERALLY BELIEVES ON THE GROUND LEVEL; MANY UPCOMING ARTISTS HAVE NOTIONS THAT GETTING AIR PLAY ON RADIOS, IT MEANS THAT YOU OVERCAME THE STRUGGLE OF THE GAME, IS THAT TRUE? JUST CLARIFY THIS POINT THROUGH YOUR EXPERIENCE.

Nah airplay doesn't mean success, you really gotta build a brand that's trusted in order to see and maintain the success, it’s not just one factor.

BESIDES HIP HOP, IS ANY CAREER OR HOBBY THAT YOU ARE PERSUADING?

Yeah I'm very creative, I’m also a novelist and a cartoonist, I don't depend on music only..

BACK TO HIP HOP, IS SLASH T CURRENTLY HAVING PROJECTS/ALBUM, TELL US MORE?

I'm working on my debut album titled Amohetsoe named after my daughter which is due to drop end of March.

STILL ON HIP HOP; LIKE ANYBODY THAT CAN ASK YOU ABOUT A FIVE (5) YEAR PLAN. TELL US YOUR PLAN IN HIP HOP? 5yrs from now I wanna be recognized as a jack of all trades in art and entertainment, wanna become da best lyricist in Africa and a famous cartoonist like Walt Disney my role model
