YungenGod - pronounced as: Young-en -God, (Owen Olwethu Phakade) born and bred in Johannesburg South Africa is not only a musical Genius (Composer, author, producer, musician and sound engineer) but an Electrical Engineering Graduate and an entrepreneur.

He started writing lyrics and producing beats on Fruity Loops 3 in the tenth grade. In year 2008 YungenGod enrolled at The Campus Of Performance Arts where he studied Music Performance (double majored in Bass Guitar and Piano) but couldn’t complete his studies due to financial constraints. In 2010 He free-lanced as a bass guitarist for the Great Pastor Benjamin Dube(Gospel Artist), Wanda Baloyi(Jazz Vocalist) and directed studio sessions at Downtown studios in Johannesburg.

The worst period in his life happened in 2016 after losing his mother to illness and being unfairly dismissed at work. He became financially unstable for months before pursuing his independent music career as “YungenGod” - establishing his music production business “Kolumbus Beats” in October 2016 and signed his self. – “Most people I know would have acknowledged defeat and simply give up but I stood firm like a God and I put an end to my struggle. I refused to be defeated”. YungenGod is an inspiration to the Youth of South Africa, the young ones who aspire to pursue their passion but are continuously discourage by society. They are motivated by his drive, uniqueness and his compassion. They regard him as a God – hence the name YungenGod.

YungenGod’s strongest influence is Hip Hop but he is not confined to one genre or particular style of music.
