I may just keel over and die,
And you know what? It would an absolute pleasure. The cause of my impending death? The release ofan album from one of the greatest EMCEE's to ever grace us with #BARS. The legendary 44-year-old emcee turned voice over talent is set to release her first LP "Legend" which will be released on International Record Store Day (April 18) and will be available for one day only, on vinyl. This will be her 1st album since the release of Da Underground Heat, Vol. 1 in 2003.
On June 25, 2013, the world got a sneak peak of what was to become LEGEND with the release of the single Cravin’. Creativity met soulful classic with this release, produced in part by Michael Beardin, MD to the greats, including Lady Gaga and the late Michael Jackson.

When I heard this track, time seemed to backtrack, slowly at first and then at lightening speed to crazy short skirts and Solantis. Play it again! How phly does she look though? On her website, the album is said to merge Lyte's classic sound with the new and edgy music of today. Critics have described as "chock full of feel-good and concept records, ranging from encouraging women to be emotionally independent to offering support to men facing hardship". The supernova that is MC Lyte bent all barriers back in her day with regards to what a femcee should look and or sound like. She wasn't just a bad femcee, she was a bad emcee period. The Legend LP will include features from Common, Faith Evans, Kenny Lattimore, Coko, and Mario. The vinyl will be available in select stores on April 18th.

The video, which also serves as a lyric visual, combines some compelling tour footage from Lyte, as she delivers some of the hardest bars of her career.
Earlier this year she was asked in an interview with Hello Beautiful what she thought of the clapback Iggy Azelea was getting from the black community regarding her being a white rapper in a predominantly black, male genre where black women still had to withstand prejudice and otherism. Below is her response.
“What I think about her is that she is a fan of hip-hop. I’ve heard her on a few interviews and I know who she is in terms of having traveled abroad since I was 17, 18 years old. And there are people of all colors that love hip-hop,” she said. “When she says that she is a lover of this culture, I believe her. Everyone has something to contribute. You either like it or you don’t but you can’t just say, ‘You can’t be here.'”
Classy lady.
On whether we can expect a collab between she and Nicki she laughingly responds,
“Would I ever do a track with Nicki? I don’t know. We’d have to agree upon our subject matter,”
