I’ve just watched the much anticipated episode of Iyanla’s: Fix My Life with Karreuche on it talking about her messy relationship with Chris Brown. Let me just put it out there right now that it will bore you to death if the only reason you’re wanting to watch it is because you want to get the dish on their 5 year situation. What it is though is the very necessary stripping down of a girl who’s been taught to be strong. Karreuche is from the ‘hold on even when it hurts your soul’ clan so many of us women are trained by society to belong to. Even the revered Iyanla Vanzant struggles to break through at times and needs to remind Tran that she is there for healing. Karreuche states that her pain mostly comes from disappointing herself. She is embarrassed that she allowed Chris to treat her that way. She admits that she’s never been in love like this before, but even so, she is not willing at the moment to consider a reconciliation with Brown. I hope this reiterates the fact that strength is a handicap in an unhealthy relationship. If anything, show strength towards yourself and leave. We’re rooting for you Karreuche!

Ms Lauryn’s incredible debut solo album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” is being inducted into the United States Library of Congress Recording Registry seventeen years after its release. In English, this means that Lauryn’s majestic work will officially be included as a piece of American history for future generations and research purposes.
In their press release, The Library of Congress said of their choice:
“Lauryn Hill’s debut solo record, following the breakup of the Fugees, is a work of honesty in which Hill explores her feelings on topics that included the deep wonder of pregnancy, the pitfalls of modern relationships and the experience of the sacred. The album effortlessly fuses soul, rhythm and blues, rap and reggae. Hill’s vocal range, smooth and clear highs and vibrato are stunning. The rapping is rhythmically compelling while always retaining, and frequently exploiting, the natural cadences of conversational speech. Standout guest performances include Carlos Santana’s soulful acoustic guitar solo on “Zion” and duets with Mary J Blige and D’Angelo on “I Used to Love Him” and “Nothing Even Matters” respectively.

Biopics are IN and the one I can’t wait to see is “Straight Outta Compton” profiling the renowned hip hop group N.W.A. With producers like Ice Cube and Dr. Dre working on it, I can’t wait to see the level of authenticity they bring to the story. Dr. Dre said this about the upcoming made for TV film in an interview with Big Boy’s Neighbourhood show:
“I hope they can be inspired. That was the main word we wanted to use when we went into this. We wanted to be inspirational. We wanted to show just the ultimate brotherhood. Betrayal. It has everything. We really wanted to get across how we feel about women because there’s a big misconception.”
Will you be watching?
